Renowned tour company Unscripted to open welcome center in historic DC building July 4
This July 4, DC tour company Unscripted will open the Guided Tours DC Welcome Center. The center will serve as a physical location for the company where guests can come check in for tours and get information about Unscripted and the District. Unscripted will be offering several tours that begin at the welcome center multiple times a day including numerous museum tours and a Lincoln Assassination tour.
“With our new Guided Tours DC Welcome Center, Unscripted Tours will offer the only walk-in location for guided tours in Washington, DC. Conveniently located just a block from the National Archives, the welcome center will serve as a place for visitors to get information on DC's sites and restaurants, book a variety of tours and experiences, fill up their water bottle, explore a mini museum, and even store their luggage while on tour.” – Liam Gideon, founder and CEO.
The grand opening: To celebrate America's birthday, Unscripted will open the doors of their new Guided Tours DC Welcome Center for guests to escape the heat. Visitors can check out a mini museum to DC's blend of local and national history (and the history that could have been), and enjoy free refreshments, including local beer and wine. Visitors are welcome to ask the on site guides questions, take in suggestions, book a tour, or just enjoy stories of DC and its neighborhoods’ history.
The location: The Welcome Center will be located at 400 7th St. NW — a place that has its own ties to the District’s history. The location, now the Jennifer Building, was in 1865 the home of the National Intelligencer newspaper. And on April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth sent the Intelligencer a letter — just before he assassinated Abraham Lincoln. This fact is one of many that Unscripted’s best-in-the-business tour guides have revealed to thousands of visitors on the company’s “Lincoln Assassination Unscripted” tour.
The Guided Tours DC Welcome Center’s opening will make Unscripted the only tour company in DC where guests can walk into a physical location to check in for tours, get information, and the like. The Center will also feature a miniature museum about the history of Washington DC — the political scandals, local cultural upheavals, and tales of heroes and villains that define the history of the nation’s capital.
About Unscripted: Unscripted is a DC based tour company that knows its guides and the stories they tell are so good, they don’t need a script. Starting in 2017 with just three tours and one guide to offer made-from-scratch, well thought-out tours, the company was rated top 20 in the nation on Viator in 2023 with their Arlington National Cemetery Tour and a TripAdvisor Top Experience 2023 winner. Unscripted now boasts over a dozen guides, thousands of five star reviews, and a wide range of experiences which 50,000 guests have enjoyed. But the best-in-the-business tour guide group’s mantra has retained the same: every tour offered is original and planned by the guides, from the signature Arlington and Lincoln Assassination experiences to new offerings like the nighttime Scandals of Capitol Hill tour. Unscripted is a proud member of Destination DC.
