The Gilded Age is typically associated with the explosion of mansions on 5th Ave in New York City although most of those edifices were torn down for modern buildings. Did you know that the Dupont Circle neighborhood here in DC was also the enclave of the rich and famous in the same period? Many of these impressive mansions still exist and form the spine of Embassy Row.
