Guide

Pam is a Washington area native, raised in Alexandria, VA. She grew up on property that was owned by George Washington and feels very fortunate that this is where her roots are.  Once she retired and realized she could be paid for talking about the area she loves, it was natural to become a tour guide!

There is history everywhere you look in Washington and Pam loves to dig into things to learn more and to share that with her tour guests.  When she’s not giving tours, you can find her on the Potomac River rowing her single “Stiletto” and coaching others on the sport she loves.

Here are some of Pam’s recommendations if you’re looking for other things to do:

Bars and Restaurants

  • Washington Harbor at 3000 K Street in Georgetown has several restaurant options.  Her favorite is Sequoia, but there is really something for everyone with gorgeous views of the Potomac River.

  • A DC standard that has stood the test of time is The Old Ebbitt Grill.  Located at 675 15th Street NW, it is the oldest continuously operating “saloon” in Washington and has been in its present location since 1983.

  • Next door at 515 15th Street, NW is The Hotel Washington, a mainstay hotel since 1917.  The VUE Rooftop bar is one of the best views in Washington and not to be missed.

Sports

  • If you’re sports minded and its baseball season, head over to Nationals Park and catch a ballgame with the Washington Nationals.  Baseball has been a part of Washington since the 1870s and there have been 8 different franchises.  The city waited 35 years after the Washington Senators left in 1971 to become the Texas Rangers. We were finally awarded a franchise with the move of the Montreal Expos to Washington in 2006.  We love our Nats!

Alexandria, VA

  • Alexandria, VA has one of the first designated historic districts in the country.  Founded in 1749, it predates the founding of the nation, and a young George Washington helped lay out the city.

  • If music is your thing, venture to Alexandria, VA to The Birchmere in the historic Arlandria neighborhood.  Many a musician got their start there and they continue to feature world renowned acts.
