McClellan's Retreat

Whiskey focused bar with themed craft cocktails

McClellan's Retreat

General George McClellan was known for retreating. Even if he won a battle, instead of pushing further hed turn around and leave. Furthermore, when he was relieved of command for General Ulysses S Grant he reportedly called Grant a drunk. So we named a bar after him, and his retreating.
This is one of our absolute favorite bars. Typically filled with locals and only locals, McClellans Retreat is set in a walk-out basement on the side of the hill just off Embassy Row. Dark and cozy inside with an incredible whiskey selection, including several barrels hand selected for the bar.
Their cocktail game is one of the strongest in town yet they have a sense of humor with it. The bar is frequently themed in dcor, music, and menu. Check their Instagram bio for current theme.
